Medical Council of India Screening Test

The Medical Council of India (MCI) Screening Test is a national level medical licensing exam of India for international medical graduates. It is also called Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) exam. MCI Screening Test is mandatory for international medical graduates for getting permanent and provisional medical registration from the MCI. The MCI Screening Test is conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).

MCI Screening Test Exam Format

MCI Screening Test is an online computer based exam in multiple choice question (MCQ) format.

The total number of questions in MCI Test is 300. It is conducted in English language only.

MCI Screening Test questions are of MBBS level. It covers 19 subjects.

There is no negative marking in MCI Screening Test.

Eligibility criteria to qualify MCI Test –

In order to qualify the MCI Screening Test, students must clear 150 out of 300 questions.

International medical graduates can apply for MCI Screening Test as many times they want. There is no limitation in the number of attempts that can be made in FMGE exam.

The total fees for FMGE exam is 5500 INR. This MCI Screening test fee can be paid online using net banking, debit cards or credit cards.

The FMGE test fee once paid is non-refundable.

To appear for the MCI Screening Test, international medical graduates need to register through the official NBE website.

Date of birth proof

Passport/Nationality Proof (e.g. Voters ID, Pan Card)

Copy of 10+2 mark sheet and certificate

MBBS degree or equivalent with mark sheet.
